This is my entry for the 100 word challange hosted by Velvet Verbosity  This weeks word is “Overall.”

Title: Bay Grace

She is turning five Friday.  Where did the time go?  It’s so cliché I know.  But it’s true.  It feels like yesterday she was my little baby.  Stumbling around, ready to trip, and knock her front teeth out.  Now she walks, no struts, around the house like a teenager.  With an attitude, making European runway models look demure.  She’s turning five!  She can dress herself, pick out her own clothes, do it by herself. What happened to my little girl, who used to look up at me and say, “Mommy, pease may I bear my faborit pear ub overall today?”

Haha, this is so lovely. I don’t have any sisters, but my youngest brother and his best friend talk like old men.

When I was 5, I apparently told my mum exactly how many chips I wanted, or even how many peas I wanted, and I’d count them before I ate them.

I really enjoyed this. Even if you don’t have children everyone knows a teenager “With an attitude, making European runway models look demure.” Poignant.

Delightful. But hold on… just wait till she’s 15! If you think the time has flown, just wait till she’s 15. If you think she has attitude now, just wait till she’s 15. If she’s doing a good job picking out her own clothes, just wait till she’s 15. If you wonder what happened to your little girl, just wait till she’s 15. And 25. And 35. And… Just wait! As they say, “you ain’t seen nuthin yet.”

That is so funny! Isn’t it amazing how universal some stages are? The mispronouncing of words, doing things “all by my felf!”, when sleeping in our bed turning perpendicular so they can kick us in the head…
